- Oscar hopeful Terrence Howard has split from Marc Anthony's ex-wife Dayanara Torres because their children were more important than their love for each other. The couple were an item over Christmas, but have decided to give up on romance because they found it difficult to find time for each other. - Janet Jackson is 20 years old.

- Damon Dash has made the neighborhood around the Dwight School, where his son, Damon Jr., is an eighth-grader, a safer place. When the hip-hop mogul learned that some local toughs had harassed young Damon and stolen his cellphone, Dash paid a visit to Central Park West and 89th Street. He brought a couple of large friends with him. The cellphone was quickly recovered, and the punks who thought they were tough learned a lesson. It is unlikely they'll bother any Dwight students ever again. A spokeswoman for Dash declined to comment, but an insider told us, "It's totally true." Thanks Laila!
